.....its wonderful to listen back to shows I attended, this one was ,for me largely forgettable due to the fact that I had scene alot of the west coast tour and east coast that year. The one thing I do remember, which is kinda lame, is the Wheel miscue , I remember thinking Brent came in and thinking oh there goes a perfect show,I think.i was on coke that night, drove from NOLA w coke heads lol serves me right...its that east coast critical Deadhead disease appearing... now listening back and reading other reviews I'm realizing, not bad at all.no doubt they were burnt out from the previous night for Mickey's vday but the still managed a quality performance, minus that one hiccup. also healyy didnt turn on the mics when they busted out the first verse....rock on out !!!!

I was at this show! Phil is a few dB low in the mix. This show is outstanding! Jerry expresses every idea with perfect articulation through out. This is a night where the mechanic of playing guitar were non existent because all cylinders where functioning effortlessly. That is NOT a given for any guitarist. Bob is spot on too with inspired singing and brilliant rhythm guitar. Mickey and Billy had a great night here too, totally playing for the music and the band. Check out Playin' in the Band. The drummers are responding to every single turn of phrase of Jerry's, improvising like jazz master! Such a fine Playing in the Band! There really isn't any weak point in this entire show!

Not As Much A Short Show As Concise, Not A Word Out Of Place. Lead And Backgound Vocals Spot On. I Didn't Notice One Flub. This Is Precision Dead. Grateful Dead Up In Lights Burning Above The Band. Nice Fat Licks In It's All Over Now,Might As Well And Man Smart.Picture Perfect Ship Of Fools. Then Jerry And Brent Go Jazz In Playin' In The Band. (Brent Loudly Channeling Dave Grusin On Electric Piano) Nice Transition Out Of Space Into Wheel. Big Chunky Fade Away Into Dew. Hard To Go Wrong With That. Chugging On Home With Sugar Mag. The Mix Is Odd. High Brent, No Phil. I Suggest Clicking On VBR. Downloading To I Tunes And Running It Thru The EQ. With Lots Of Bottom. Pristine Soundbard (slight Hisssss) But Is Good,I Give It A 5, Got I Sure As Hell Could Dance To It.

Brown-Eyed Women is sort of the quintessential dead song, isn't it.

the recording lacks bass, you can hear phil but its not fat and his play is lackluster. this dew is one of the least dynamic you'll hear. the 'baby cry' verse is not done in a whisper or quietly but with authorty as is the 'young man verse. the 1st guitar brake is tasty then it gets typically quiet, dynamic the 2nd final climactic guitar break is ok nothing to write home about, no 'fanning' etc. Bob is hard to hear, low, no seperation. the drums and cymbals rides, crashes are better and brent is well in the mix though his play is good again not one of his better efforts. still if you LOVE Morning Dew certainly worth a listen

The sound is excellent and Jerry's really on it - handles Might as Well with no problem. Love the second set!

Nice sounding SBD..One of the first things I noticed was how Jerry was almost nonexistent on Greatest Story..usually He's all over it and up on the mix..and yes the West LA is funky!! Tell me if Brent wasn't comfortable and getting down on It's All Over Now..In the 2nd set Bobby calls out to the Rock Angels backstage in the beginning of an average Woman Are Smarter followed by a nice Ship of Fools..The Playing in the Band on to the encore is what I enjoyed most from this show..nothing crazy but GIVE IT A WHIRL
